Petition:

Posted on 09.05.2026

Hello Comrades! We would like to draw your attention to a Chilean petition in solidarity with Cuba that is currently collecting signitures. The petition aims to demand the international community to put an end to the US blockade against Cuba.

The sanctions attempt to incite regime change in the country, undermining Cuban sovereignty, and as such going against international law. The collective suffering of the Cuban people has become a full blown humanitarian crisis, and every little thing that has the potential of helping should be done.

ISALA’s statement:

We acknowledge the recent public statement made by a founding member regarding their decision to step away from ISALA. We wish our comrade well and are grateful for our time together.

We will not be entering into a detailed public rebuttal, as we believe the integrity of our work speaks more clearly than any dispute. For collaborators who wish to understand the fuller context, we remain open to a private, evidence-based conversation. However, allow us to be clear: we do not support NATO, nor do we support Ukraine's government or neo-nazi groups within the country. What we do support is every nation's right to sovereignty, which Russia is currently undermining through the war in Ukraine. Russian imperialism isn't an alternative to US imperialism.

The ideological differences that have come to light are not a matter of personality or personal grievance. They go against the principles of ISALA, the foundation upon which this organisation stands.

ISALA was built on the belief that solidarity with the working class of Latin America (and of all people) transcends borders, nationalist pride, and the hierarchies that imperialism has long tried to normalise. As Marx wrote, the working class has no country to defend that is not already taken from it. Ultra-nationalist sentiment, regardless of how it is framed or whose homeland it is directed toward, is incompatible with this view. We hold this position even when the nation in question has given the world thinkers whose work forms the very backbone of our politicale ducation.

We want to be unambiguous: ISALA does not support NATO. We oppose imperialism in all its forms. We stand in solidarity with the working-class people of both Russia and Ukraine, and we recognise that it is ordinary people, not oligarchs, who bear the cost of war and empire. However, Russian imperialism cannot be denied, and is as real as US imperialism. We cannot fight one while embracing another.

ISALA is, and will remain, bigger than any one of us.

In solidarity, ISALA

-Mishka, -Marcelina
